Dr. Marsack maintains active clinical practice as a registered nurse on a medical-surgical unit, grounding her teaching and scholarship in current, evidence-based care. Her scholarly work focuses on advancing environmental sustainability in healthcare simulation and improving simulation education nationally and internationally. She has served as Chair of the Environmental Sustainability Special Interest Group for the International Nursing Association for Clinical Simulation and Learning (INACSL) and has disseminated her work through publications, national and international presentations, and invited workshops. Committed to mentorship, service, and equity-centered education, Dr. Marsack actively supports students, faculty, and interdisciplinary collaborators while preparing the next generation of nurses to deliver inclusive, sustainable, and high-quality patient care.

Teaching

Dr. Jessica Marsack specializes in clinically grounded nursing education, simulation-based learning, and environmental sustainability in healthcare education. Her teaching spans large undergraduate courses and small clinical sections and is guided by a trauma-informed, psychologically safe approach that emphasizes inclusivity, reflective learning, and student growth. Her excellence in teaching has been recognized through a Golden Apple Award nomination, designation as a Provost’s Teaching Innovation Prize finalist, and receipt of the Sigma Theta Tau International Excellence in Education Award. She has led and contributed to multiple curricular innovations, including early clinical experiences, scalable simulation models, and competency-based assessment initiatives aligned with AACN standards.
